What is the best way to meet with my mentor?
Meeting with your mentor in-person is the most preferred way to meet. More than half of our communication is via our body language and meeting in-person encourages you to fully be present and minimize distractions (e.g. a meeting over the phone could easily turn into you checking your emails while chatting which is an easy recipe for the relationship falling off). -
If my mentor and I can`t meet in person, what is the next best method for meeting?
If you can’t meet in-person, the next suggested method of meeting is via video chat. If you can’t meet in-person or over video chat, phone call is the last resort option for mentor meetings and is highly discouraged. -
How do I provide feedback on my meetings with my mentor?
The day after each mentor meeting, Ambition In Motion will send you an email asking for your feedback on that meeting. It is a simple “thumbs up”, “thumbs down” or “didn’t happen” with the opportunity to elaborate in an open text box if you would like. If “didn’t happen” was selected, you will be prompted to update your dashboard with the new time you have set the meeting for. -
What is the purpose of the agendas?
The agendas provide a guide for your mentor relationship. Sometimes it can be difficult to get into rapport with somebody or think of what to say. These agendas help provide structure to your meetings and help ensure that the relationship stays fresh. -
Are the agendas mandatory to follow?
The agendas are not mandatory to follow. If you feel more comfortable with only using part or none of the agenda, that is completely fine. This is something you should discuss with your mentor and if you choose not to use the agenda, it is encouraged that you create your own agenda that you share with your mentor before every conversation. The goal is that this time is used effectively to build deeper, stronger relationships. Without an agenda, it is easy to get lost and not know what to discuss during conversations. -
What is the purpose of collecting feedback after every meeting?
Some mentor meetings might be better than others. Ambition In Motion would like to know if something went wrong with a meeting or could be improved about the mentor program. It is easier to make improvements and target issues on the individual meeting level than it is based on assessments every 6 months
